Website Address

Friends of Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Inc (FESWI)’s three aims are:

  1. Rehabilitation
  2. Education
  3. Protection

It endeavours to realise these via:

Rehabilitation –

  • Working Bees in the buffer zones – planting, weeding etc.
  • Special Clean Ups by members as needed; FESWI has also participated in Clean Up Australia events.

Education

  • Promotion – having a presence at community events; advertising – local newspaper articles etc.
  • Hosting walks and talks around the wetlands – school groups, community groups, kangaroo walks.
  • Bird Hide – Opening on weekend afternoons to visitors.
  • Producing a regular newsletter.
  • Maintaining a website and facebook page.

Protection –

  • Keeping a watching brief on proposed activities/developments likely to adversely affect the wetlands, to query them and lodge objections if necessary.
Raison d’être

FESWI aims to help keep the wetlands and buffer zones in the best condition possible mainly to provide habitat, for all the creatures that use this space (particularly migratory birds). Also, because wetlands clean up the water before releasing it back into the sea.
