HBWC aims to connect people with the wetlands area along the north west shore of Port Phillip Bay. Bairnsdale Urban Landcare Group
The Bairnsdale Urban Landcare Group Inc was formed in 1999 to improve and revegetate the degraded banks and environs of the Mitchell River through Bairnsdale. In this time the group has removed exotic weeds and planted more than 15,000 indigenous plants that create habitat birds, insects and reptiles. The Mitchell River runs into the Ramsar listed Gippsland Lakes so the river health is vitally important to the lakes and to the local wildlife. Port Welshpool Working Group
Interactive Environmental Displays The Port Welshpool Working Group have interactive environment display events with volunteers operating touch tanks and where the children will be able to see close up, some of the wide variety of marine life found in the waters of Corner Inlet. Friends of Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Inc (FESWI)’s three aims are: Rehabilitation Education Protection It endeavours to realise these via: Rehabilitation – Working Bees in the buffer zones – planting, weeding etc. Special Clean Ups by members as needed; FESWI has also participated in Clean Up Australia events. Bellarine Catchment Network
The Bellarine Catchment Network (BCN) comprises representatives from key catchment and coastal organisations (both government and non-government) with an integrated catchment management focus. This includes environment groups, ‘Friends Of’, Landmanagers, Landcare and Coastcare groups. BCN employees seven officers to implement the projects of the committee. Our Vision is to have Healthy, flourishing and diverse ecosystems cared for by an aware and engaged community.
Balcombe Estuary Reserves Group
The Balcombe Estuary Reserves Group Mt Martha is a friends group formed to preserve and restore the unique ecology of the Balcombe Estuary and Reserves. We remove weeds, plant indigenous species, monitor water quality, tackle drainage and sedimentation issues, engage schools and universities, conduct community education, talk to local groups, lobby government and much more.
