Bayside Council has over 20 environmental volunteer groups covering the foreshore, reserves, heathlands, community gardens and Community Nursery. Joining a Friends of Bayside group is a great way to: learn more about the environment; get hands on experience; protect and enhance our natural resources, and; meet like-minded people in a fun and relaxed setting! Coastcare Victoria
Coastcare Victoria proudly supports hundreds of community groups and volunteers working to protect and enhance Victoria's 2000 kilometres of coastline. Community organisations and volunteer groups help to maintain our marine and coastal environment through activities such as revegetating coastal areas, building boardwalks, fencing, building tracks, monitoring native shorebirds and animals, presenting education and awareness raising sessions, plantings, landscaping coastal areas and protecting cultural sites. ReefWatch – Victorian National Parks Association
Victorian National Parks Association ‘s ReefWatch program has been connecting people with the underwater world through marine citizen science for over 20 years. We provide people with an opportunity to get involved in the collection of data on marine life in Victoria through events such as the Great Victorian Fish Count and Sea Slug Census. ReefWatch focuses on educating and inspiring people through hands on experiences documenting marine biodiversity in Victoria.
BeachPatrol Australia Inc
BeachPatrol and Love Our Street are litter collection volunteer groups in Victoria, operating in 40+ postcodes. Groups meet monthly to pick up plastic litter from local beaches, streets or parks and meet like-minded people who are passionate about preserving our environment, wildlife, marine life and ecosystems. The groups log their data in the LitterStopper app, which feeds into our litter collection database and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action's LitterWatch database. Bairnsdale Urban Landcare Group
The Bairnsdale Urban Landcare Group Inc was formed in 1999 to improve and revegetate the degraded banks and environs of the Mitchell River through Bairnsdale. In this time the group has removed exotic weeds and planted more than 15,000 indigenous plants that create habitat birds, insects and reptiles. The Mitchell River runs into the Ramsar listed Gippsland Lakes so the river health is vitally important to the lakes and to the local wildlife. The South Gippsland Conservation Society is dedicated to advancing the conservation of Australia's natural resources, with a specific focus on the South Gippsland region. Our mission includes fostering environmental education, preserving and enhancing awareness of the local marine environment, safeguarding native flora and fauna, especially in South Gippsland, informing the public about the region's natural attractions and conservation efforts, collaborating with relevant conservation groups, and taking proactive measures as needed to fulfill their overarching goals.
Save Western Port Woodlands
Save Western Port Woodlands was established in 2020 when the Bass Coast community became aware of the threat posed by a surge in sand mining operations and applications in the coastal woodland corridor along the eastern side of Western Port. There are currently 10 sand mines operating in Western Port Woodlands with another 9 work authorities approved and seven under application. Port Welshpool Working Group
Interactive Environmental Displays The Port Welshpool Working Group have interactive environment display events with volunteers operating touch tanks and where the children will be able to see close up, some of the wide variety of marine life found in the waters of Corner Inlet.
